Ive recently decided to get my Xbox finally connected to XboxLive, I run a direct connection from an NTL Digital Set-Top Box to my computer to access my broadband Internet.
The other day i decided to connect the lead that runs from the box to my computer, to the back of my xbox, to try for a direct connection.
To my dismay, it completed the first three steps of the setup, but the final one didnt work, Took a friends advice to purchase a Cross-Over Ethernet cable and connect it between my computer and the xbox and to leave the internet connected to the computer forming a bridge for the broadband to reach my Xbox.
When the connection troubleshooter began on the XboxLive dashboard, i was pleased to see The first of the four steps, "Cables connected" confirmed, but it got to the second stage and then an error message came up saying..something along the lines of.."DNS NOT FOUND: No DNS Server adress were received from the DHCP or PPPoE server. Enter the DNS Server(s) provided by your ISP in the network Settings menu. See www.xbox.com/connect (http://www.xbox.com/connect) for more information."
Ive read all sorts of guides on setting up an ICS, even looked at the NTL's own guide, which is exactly the same as XBOX's, (open the properties to Local Area connection, advanced tab and allow a network connection) BUT for some reason, i click on the advanced tab and all there is is an option to access the windows firewall, nothing else..what is going on!?
It would be so much help and greatly apreciated if someone can help.. Thanks.http://forums.xbox.com/emoticons/emotion-13.gif
