hi guys.
im having some trouble accessing my ntl broadband webspace and i wonder if anyone can help. the problem really is that my ntl account is registered to my home back in the UK but im in a different country for a gap year. i want to be able to upload pictures to my webspace but the cafe blocks all ports other than port 80, so when i go to ftp://username:password@upload.ntlworld.com i get a message saying

The folder 'ftp://ftp.site.name/' is read-only because the proxy server is not set up to allow full access.

To move, paste, rename, or delete files, you must use a different proxy. For information on changing your proxy, contact your administrator.

after i click ok, it just goes to the page not found screen.

i have tried using that ntl ftp program too but cant figure it out.

please help!

alicia.

Try explaining this to the cafe and see if they'll help.

- not good news, I'm afraid, you can only FTP to your NTL webspace from an NTL account, so even if the café allowed another port, you still couldn't upload.

I would have a look at one of the free 'gallery' programs, like Flikr, instead

so when i go to ftp://username:password@upload.ntlworld.com

Not a good idea to go using your ISP username and password in an unsecure internet cafe, even if it doesn't work.
