Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received ...... whats it mean?

I hope someone can help me!

Since Tuesday i've been hardly able to access the net as browsing is painfully slow (it took 3minutes to load this page) and my modem logs give me a constant message of Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received.

Here are a few traceroutes to bbc.co.uk

I'm assuming those '*' are bad!

I would be grateful if anyone can give me more info on my problem and whether you think it's my line or a general Ntl problem because i believe they started network balancing in my area (cambridge) on tuesday.

I've never had any problems with speed or anything before and my modem levels have been constant since i had BB installed (5years or so ago) and the modem isn't disconnecting.

Thanks for your help.

[edit]

I've just had confirmation from my neighbour that his Broadband has gone t*ts up too, so i guess i'll just have to wait for Ntl to pull their finger out. :)

Have you reported a fault?
Last time someone saw that message there was a fault in the area

Not yet Paul, but will do if it's not sorted by the weekend after all their network rebalancing has been completed.

I wouldn't wait that long mate, you'll be suffering for a while before it's fixed if you wait till weekend.

Is it likely to do with whats on the status page for my area(Cambridge) as this problem started at exactly the same time they started the balancing? More balancing is scheduled for Thursday night according to that page.
