i sit here and i wonder to myself what is kylie and the US researchers thinking have they been living in a cave ?

so i read through this article and kylie is 'having a go' at the pop culture being too sexually orientated basically women (notebly) are showing too much skin in music videos

now it smacks of hypocrisy to me that she herself could say such a thing even when she has been guilty of raunchiness in her videos not to mention some of her dresses she has previously worn and even in her current single she is still castrated all over the floor

the laugable part is US researchers are blaming hip hop :confused: i seem to see plenty of females who are doing pop videos in the non hip hop genre dressing provocatively

ofcourse im not really bothered whether they dress like s*u*s or not its the quality of the music that counts and i think these days its more about image unfortunatley then talent

Prostrate as in lying flat or prostate as in the MALE organ surrounding the urethra...in which case SHE wouldn't have one.

yeah I meant prostrate as in lying flat (which she is doing in the video) - it was supposed to be a pun on prostate as well, which I thought was as likely as her having testicles;)

Yes, but that's all she's doing - looking sexy - in snoop-puppy-jack russells latest vid, he's surrounded by a harem of topless women...that's about sex.

IMO there's a big difference between sexiness and sex... I think Ms. Minogue is spot on :)

see this annoys me...kylie was one of the first (i remember anyway0 who started wearing "raunchy" outfits in her vids..for crying out loud she hardly wears anything in some of her vids... and then we have the likes of holly vallance who seriously doesnt wear much.....can't these women sell their music because of their voice and 'talent' (singing talent said in inverted commas becuase i dont always think they can sing).....and it also means that society puts pressure on all women to be stick thin like these women...
saying that however, i turned onto top of the tops on friday (only cos eastenders was on afterwards) and there was this rather large black man jumping round the stage with his belly hanging out everywhere :sick:

aside: mark i did warn them they were O.T. :(

exactly music is not about being half naked and roaming around in a music video
its about the lyrics and sound and if they really were talented some of them would sing live more often

and it also means that society puts pressure on all women to be stick thin like these women...

i think thats right there is a pressure to be thin these days especially being in the public eye

music used to be about just that the music, now it is about the whole package... which i think is a bit of a shame.... and also have u noticed that certain kinds of music are ascribed stereotypes, could that be because the way the singers themselves dress???

i don't think the pressure is especailly worse in the public eye, the pressure is bad for most women...... this is sometimes perpetrated by men, they see these thin, gorgeous women in the media every day and somehow they sub consciously start to think that that is the 'norm'

yes the record companies may tell them to dress more provocatively, but they also have the choice.....

yes i agree that one should take the way they are in the stride but if you are faced with these images everywhere you turn then it is going to effect you, whether it is consciously or sub-consciously
