A very good question, supprised nobodys asked before. Me, this time around, about 6 months, I've workedfor the same Co a few times, the longest I've been with any one Co is probably 9 years, with the next being 6 ish. At the moment ( last few years ) I tend to wander, long story ;)

I spent 2 years with a company involved in 2 way radios, 2 years with redifon marine and nearly 13 years with ntl, a year with another company and 3 and a half years with my present employer.

I am leaving the 27th of this month to start another job, my present job is great and I am sad to leave. I have long since realised you can only make big leaps by moving companies.

About 7 months in this job (since the site opened)

Previously 6 months working for T-Mobile when I was made redundant from Ntl, 2 years (almost exactly) in Ntl, a few randoms jobs for about 7 months, 6 months in a job in Leicester and 6 years working on a helpdesk after leaving Uni.

Oh, about 4 months now...

The price we pay for working in the tech sector - in the last few years I've also worked for a couple of startups, which in one case had a severe crisis of confidence after 9/11 (go straight to the jobcentre, do NOT pass go, do NOT collect £200) and the other went bust this summer.

The last was particularly pleasant, as they managed to do that the day I went on a week's holiday - they didn't let me know until I'd found out elsewhere on my return AND they managed not to pay an salaries that month too. Talk about stressful...

So I've had my fill of the small company promise of untold riches at IPO - so far it's cost me more than any payback might have been worth.

I'll stick to larger, well-established companies, where there is a remote chance of staying in continuous employment for more than 2 years! (Like my current, London based 'city' company. Travelling to/working in - London may be a grind, but so much better than visiting the jobcentre...)

Before that, I worked for JD Wetherspoon for 7 months, and before that Waitrose for over 3 years.

This is my 20th year. Joined straight from uni and apart from flirting with Oracle 15 years ago (didn't offer enough money!) I've never felt the need to move. Big reason for staying is an index linked final salary pension :D

i've been doing this job for 7 months now, and really enjoy it, most of the time. unfortunately though, we were informed a few months ago the comapny are relocating and as I can't relocate at this stage, I will be made redundant in 6months-2 years (we wont know the time scale for another few months)

Being with my company 13 months - working as a phone monkey, dealing with GPs, nurses, receptionists, and other assorted primary health care workers, fixing their IT problems. Promoted as of this month - no more power, bit more cash, lot more grief :D
