View Full Version : Lifetime's Motto

On the radio today they were discussing lifetime mottos.

One of the presenters said that her motto was formed from a flight she took a few years ago where you could place something on your head (cap maybe?) saying "Wake me up for meals" so that you could sleep on the flight but not wake up hungry after it.

She said that she had adopted this as her "lifetime motto".... :)

I thought it was rather charming :)

What's yours?

What's yours?Semper Fortuna et Fides

May not be 'correct' latin (not being a scholar of latin I had to resort to 'translation by dictionary') but it reflects my own outlook on the future as I expressed it from a very early age: 'It'll be allright, I'll be allright' (rough translation - the original was not in English :) )

I also like
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

My gran always used to say "Never put a thing down twice". I didn't really understand her as I was little but what she was getting at was put things away in the right place and you will never lose anything. Hardly a lifetime's motto but an interesting saying...

"Some tortures are physical & some are mental, but the one that's both is DENTAL"

Attributed to Ogden Nash, I've always liked that one :D

Or:
"I can only be nice to one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow's not looking good either"

My most-used is the old "If it ain't broke..." with an ending to suit my mood:

".. don't fix it"
".. break it"
".. you aren't trying hard enough"
".. it can't have been supplied by NTL!" :D

Heres a few of my faves.....

If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. (From Back to the future, I can even hear the Doc saying it when I think it but true none the less)
Wether you win or lose, the only important thing is that you tried.
Expect the unexpected and you'll never be supprised (especially helpful when driving).
Whatever can happen probably will (sort of related to the one above but I thought I'd mention it anyway).
