some tips here
http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/templates/contentlookup.jsp?content=/bq_advice/common/buyersguides/10.2.05/main_flooring.jsp

http://www.aspen-laminate-wood-flooring.co.uk/laminate_flooring_quickstep.htm

However when i layed one i used a laminate floor tapping block and crow bar. I think i got them from screwfix direct. They show them being used here http://www.houseoffloors.co.uk/lamaccessories.html

Here, this is the tapping block, use a rubber mallet on it

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/sea/searchresults.jsp;jsessionid=XBORC3DLJQIEFCJO2C5CL MQ?_dyncharset=UTF-8&q=tapping+block&n=&pn=1&pd=1&pi=1&cn=1&cd=1&x=0&y=0

it made life much simpler and the floor went down really quick

bit the bullet and bought the fixing kit from floors to go and hey presto chango much much easier....i would recommend paying the extra 12 quid or so and getting it...in fact it would be difficult without it...floors nearly finished and looking good...thanks for the replies guys

This might not be the case, but it sounds like you might be fitting it the wrong way round.

When fitted the wrong way round you have to lever the previously laid board to get the lips to interconnect, this can lead to chipping, and there will be very slight gaps once you've completed the floor.

Hi all,
hope someone can advise.

i laid a laminate flooring in our lounge/diner before going away 2 weeks ago only to find about 3rd of the way down in the middle o the room it is "BULGING"
would this be due to lack of space around edge or another issue.
Thanks,
ian

would this be due to lack of space around edge

Almost certainly. You need to leave a gap for expansion.

I once put some laminate flooring down but the door wouldn't shut after I'd laid it, the ex missus said you've got to take it out of the wrapping you pillock. I'm sure that was the reason why the relationship went belly up:D

Thank you to everyone for the pm's asking advice on laminate flooring, the best advice I can give is pay some one to do it! lol.
