On this topical note, who will be the new leader of the Tories?
(Candidates taken from BBC News.)

The poll names far more than the 2 or 3 that stand a realistic chance of succeeding IDS, assuming of course he is crippled by today's confidence vote. What I want to know is, those who voted 'A N Other' ... who did you think it might be? The Parliamentary Conservative Party isn't that big!

I believe the bookies are still taking bets on ridiculous outsiders like Margaret Thatcher and John Major :)

a little off topic but.
The word Tories was originally used to describe rural bandits in Ireland

it's still true today if you ask me, they have just expanded the area in which they operate.

I also think it doesn't matter who leads them, they wont do anything helpful for 90% of the population.

what are the bookies odds on elvis being the next conservative leader? ;)

I think it's fair to say that IBS is out.

Iain Buncan Smith?
Was that his nickname at school? ;)

It's gonna be Howard. I'm willing to stake a pint on it.

I'll tell you why IBS won't win - it's because he's bald. No seriously, Kinnock, Hague, IBS, the people don't want a slaphead in Number 10.

Well the serious money is on Michael Howard but when you consider a certain former PM started as a 20:1 outsider and became the countrys first woman PM so it's still everything to play for. Saying that, its all down to the grass roots members who are a tad naffed off with tory MP's for the whole situation in the first place. After all IDS was the first elected tory leader.

you should have included 'who gives a sh*t' as an option.

Well....if the thread starter specifically asks for that as an option, I'll be only too pleased to make amends :)

You can use whatever wording you like :)

You might as well remove IDS and David Davis whilst you are at it (if that can be done)!

I hope it will not be Howard - he is way too creepy to ever even consider the slightest possibility that he could be PM!
