Hello,

Right - I've searched but I can't find the answer!

Back at the start of the year I was over in America working. During this time I found a breakfast cereal which I quite liked, but I can't find it in the UK.

I can't remember what it was called in the US.

The only thing I can remember about them was that they looked like little parcels, they where not covered in anythingand I can't remember what they where made of either, so I' really clutching at straws! Anybody help me out? :tu:

Cheers

Lee

When searching, I found those! I don't think it was them - unless they have another name in America?

No, that's the American name.

Can you remember anything else about them?

Could it be this? (http://www.vaiden.net/capn_crunch_cereal.jpg)

Did they have any particular taste?

The only thing I remember - they where "parcel" shaped - not covered in anything - were sweet, but not very sweet - possibly wheat or corn and "melted" in the mouth...

Will have to give Golden Grahams a go just to make sure it's not them....

You could have a look at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_cereal or

http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blcereal.htm or

http://www.american-trading.com/food/cereal.asp

and see if anything rings a bell.

Or maybe you could sign-up with an American supermarket that does online shopping, and then spend a while browsing their available breakfast cereals to see if that reminds you what it's called... or you could always just fly out there for a couple of hours

Frankly with the description you've given you'll be lucky if anyone recognises them. :erm:

Anybody know the US equivelent of Tescos? Tried Walmart online, but no food section!wegmans.com would be a good place to look. There is not a nationwide chain of supermarkets in the same way there is not a pan-european chain of supermarkets.
Does Safeway still exist over there?

From www.safeway.com:
Chex, Cheerios, Golden Grahams, Mini Wheats, Crispix, Shredded Wheat Bite Size, Honey Blossoms, Honey Nut Oats, Granola, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Kix, Lucky Charms, Trix, Pebbles, Captain Crunch, Nuggets, Crackles, Silly Circles, Treasure Puffs, Grits, Nighty Bites, Puffins, Wheat Pockets.

Golden Temple Passion Peace Cereal?
Nature's Path Organic Flax With Pumpkin Granola?

Granola does it for me. Tesco sell a poor substitute in a purple bag.

If you're still stumped, it might be worth asking them in "Made in America", a store in Chippenham, Wiltshire that sells exclusively American products, if they're aware of what you're on about. They might even stock it, and if not, should be able to acquire it for you.

"Made in America - The American Store"
Unit 5B, Hathaway Retail Park, Chippenham, Wilts, SN15 1JG.

Thought we was onto a winner there - lots of choices, but nothing that rings the bell!

Good call - might get in touch with them!

Just something else I remember about them - they are small parcel / pillow shapped - hollow in the middle and about 2cm long...

This is turning into an epic search! In sure they are not Golden Grahams! Thanks all for the help so far!

Quakers do a nice one (just tucking into some now). Although is is almost exactly like the jordans crunch muesli I had as a kid and has always been available over here.
