For the last week I have been trying to cancel my CM account with NTL.
The number I keep being given (02476 768736) is just an answer machine.
Has any body got another number I could try? TIA

Hmm. That's a Coventry number, but I'm relatively sure retentions is in Teesside - for Langley anyway.

If you have other ntl services (TV, telephone) and are outside the initial 12 months of your broadband contract, Customer Services should be able to disconnect it for you. Call 0800 052 2000, and choose Option 5. If you only have broadband, call between 9-5 and they can put you through to retentions - who will obviously try to stop you disconnecting, but can do so if you really wish.

May I ask why you want to disconnect? If you're having trouble with the service, we may be able to help. :)

Thanks for the reply.
I have been with NTL since the dial up days,2 phone lines and CM.
I have never been late with a payment,NTL get on average £75 a month
off me.
Some months I D/L quite a lot others not much at all, this week I got
a letter about my internet abuse over the last two months.
So a quick look around the net and I found I could get my phone cheaper
and unlimited D/L's £10 cheaper via ADSL with Freedom2Surf so it's buy buy
NTL hello Freedom, who will be going to 8meg in my area before xmas for
a one off payment of £15 and no extra monthly charge.

Try 01642 642 000 or 01642 642642 for Teesside

Retentions is stil there as they where advertising for staff last month

Other than that I think the national number is still 0800 052 200
