Modem goes offline under high load

I have an engineer coming this afternoon to look at a problem I am having. For normal web browsing or checking e-mail, every thing is fine. However, if I introduce a high load, for example by trying to download a large video clip, or download a large software update, the connection is lost and the cable modem goes offline. Usually it manages to bring it self back online.

Has any one seen this before, and if so, what was the problem

I understand this can happen, jonbr, if there's a fair bit uploading at the same time: do you have any P2P or anything like that running?

No, I don't have any uploads going on and I don't use p2p.

The ntl man came and changed my modem yesterday. Every thing runs fine now. :)
