Cider. But not Strongbow. Or (shudder!) Woodpecker. The proper ciders: Dry Blackthorn, Copperhead, Gaymers Old English.

And, of course, scrumpy. Oooh, haven't had that in years. For the benefit of other posters from Bolton, I think they still serve it in the Howcroft Inn, on Vernon Street. They used to serve Addlestone's, on draught, in the Albion (Moor Lane). Scrumpy. On draught. God, I used to love Friday nights in there...

A mate of mine once went on a cycling holiday in Devon. He was a very enthusiastic drinker, though I think a wife and two kids will have slowed him down a bit now. :p: Anyway, he wandered into one of the old pubs in Devon - you know the sort, no building anywhere else for miles - and, having heard how strong scrumpy was, he asked for a pint.

You can guess where this is going, can't you...?

The pub went quiet; it was rather like that scene in Mort, but this was years before I discovered Terry Pratchett. The landlord confirmed my mate wasn't from around those parts, but served him anyway without comment. He said he only realised afterwards that everyone else had half-pint mugs or less, but he drank the scrumpy, and greatly enjoyed it. He then bade a cheery farewell and started on his way.

It's a tribute to his constitution and drinking skills that he nearly made it to the door before his legs forgot what they were for. :D

Also Cider - preferably Magner's, but also Strongbow (sorry Anonymouse...) - not a fan of Blackthorn though.

Otherwise, it's Stella Artois or even Budweiser for me... How uncouth am I? ;)

As the Title says whats you favourite drink
Red Wine - specifically Cabernet Sauvignon - or Black Russian, if I'm drinking cocktails, and Irish whiskey (e.g. Black Bush) or Bourbon (e.g. Jack Daniels) when it comes to spirits.

I also love a nice cold original Coke (i.e. NOT that sugary yucky Pepsi!) or a darn good cuppa - if it's a thirst I want to deal with.

Lots of favourites, but water is what I drink the most (just tap water). If I have some pop, it's preferably Fanta Fruit twist. I'm also partial to a nice strong, sweet milky coffee.

At one stage, after doing Judo, if asked "What's your poison?" I used to reply DDT. The bar staff knew me and that I liked a Double Diet Tango - two glass bottles of Diet Tango in a one pint glass. :)

I rarely drink these days, mainly because I'm back in training (I will get back onto that pitch!). However, when the urge takes me I like champagne, or a nice bottle of wine (Barolo, Corvo, Rully, Volnay are all faves). On the very rare occasions I take a beer, it will probably be a Guinness - especially when in Ireland.

stage 3 : mix the sumirnoff ice and lager in the pint glass you now have a SUPER SHANDY .

Beer - 1664 - dont like the blanc stuff or a nice pint of GB

Spirits - Proper Vodka straight from the freezer (good vodka doesnt freeze) Nostrovia

Girly drinks - Blue WKD - Red Square

Wine - Anything good - South African Red rocks my world.

Whiskey - Wild Turkey

When I was a kid used to drink bottles of cheap cider on street corners.. I still have a taste for the stuff and once or twice a year a bottle of white lightining is refreshing, even if it has never seen an apple...

Vodka and 7UP, Rum and Coke, or Bacardi and Coke - the latter two I like with a bit of lime and no ice. Prefer Morgan's dark rum - can't stand Lambs.

At home, usually lager then move onto JD and coke.

Purely beer for me :)

Banks's Original is my number one, but I can normally only get that when I visit the Family Nug (although I do tend to stock up then :disturbd: )

Failing that, Tetleys when I'm at home, Guinness if I'm in town, or whatever the guest bitter is in our local (not too fussy really :D )

Any good Cask Condition bitter

Malt Whisky

Around where I live we can get bottles of Export Guiness 7.5% as well as Nigerian Guiness, also 7.5%. The Nigerian Guiness is a little bet sweeter then Irish Guiness due to them using Sorgham wheat in the brewing.

Those plastic water filled ice cubes are great for "on the rocks" drinks, when they melt they don't contaminate the good stuff :D

Beer/lager wise:

Grolsch for Lager

and when I can get it:

De Koninck (http://www.dekoninck.be/en/index.htm), not easy to find in the UK unfortunately :( (though at some point in time there were two places in Nottingham serving it)

And then there's the two words that don't go together (allegedly): beer and cherry. Yes, Cherry beer! We have a place locally that has Liefmans Kriek on tap. It's lovely, (unlike many krieks, it's not very sweet, but rather tangy). I've seen some rather sceptical people admit they actually like cherry beer after tasting Liefmans :)
