When my BT Broadband contract runs out in November, I will be looking for a new service. My dad says I need to find someone cheaper because we were getting a lot of extras added onto our bill because I was going over each usage limit. Basically BT charge us £15.99 a month for the internet and then:

0 - 1GB (Normal fee)
1 GB - 3GB (+ £4.00)
3GB - 6GB (+£8.00 )
6GB and over.. (+ £12.00)

Here's my usage history.

Month 1: 5.9GB (This month had no extra charges though so I took advantage)
Month 2: 1.66GB
Month 3: 1.3GB
Month 4: 2.2GB
Month 5: 2.45GB
Month 6: 2.75GB
Month 7: 2.79GB
Month 8: 7.4GB
Month 9: 3.58GB
Month 10: 3GB

So I was just wondering which NTL package to go for. Either the 1MB £17.99 a month one or the 2MB £24.99 a month deal. We're not exactly well off but the 2MB deal is certainly appealing. Plus we are basically paying £20 at the moment for a far poorer service (although the reliability of BT Broadband is pretty good). This is all my fault anyway.. I rushed ahead with my choice of Broadband and chose BT without really looking deeply into their package.

What would you recommend?

Thanks

I'd go for the 1meg. Looking at amount you d/l, the occasional spat over 3gig isn't going to get you in any trouble. Have you looked at the deals ntl are doing at the moment? 3 for £30 (http://www.home.ntl.com/page/3for30) is proving quite popular. HTH :)

Agree with OB, get the 1meg, but be aware that it is supposed to be limited to 3GB a month. Ntl, currently, don't enforce that but one day, possibly soon, they might. At that point be prepared to upgrade to the 30GB use allowance 2Meg service. You can upgrade / downgrade once a month, provided you keep the BB service (minimum 12 month contract).
