A burmese python took on an alligator, but the result was a draw - both animals were killed.
Just a word of warning, there is a thumbnail pic on the news article. It isn't gory - no blood at all, but those of a more sensitive disposition may not want to look at it. However, the fact that the BBC has featured it is an indicator that it isn't a nasty pic.
However, the pic-free version is here: http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/mpapps/pagetools/print/news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4313978.stm

The warning should read "You may have trouble making out what it is!"
I had to look a few times, carefully to realise that the ONLY part of the alligator still showing is the tail! (in the lower r/h part of the image.) The snake almost managed it!
Is that why my mum used to say "Your eyes are bigger than your belly" :disturbd:
Mine said "You should never bite off more than you can chew"
"I'll have an alligator sandwich and make it snappy...."

Reminds me of the days I lived in the frozen North (Oldham actually) and we used to go to a restaurant called Smithills near Bolton.
They used to have on the menu a choice called "Full to Bustin" and it was.
Someone should have told him the supersized was a little heavy on the Ol stomach.
Somehow I don't think this would work in this case :Yikes:

Blimey - that'll take more than a couple of Rennie to fix.
That pic is in todays Times.......I suspect the python didn't burst--I think the alligator probably used it's back legs to claw a hole in the pythons side.....from the inside! :disturbd:

Wow that IS amazing, kinda made me feel sick looking at the photo and im not sure why, possibly because I havent had anything to eat yet? lol
What the hell was a 13foot Burmese python doing on the loose in Florida anyway? I have heard stories, whether they were true or not I can't say, of people flushing snakes down the loo etc but a bloody great python?
Phew!
Alligator f*rts are evidently silent but deadly....
I am finding it hard to get my head round that picture. And why was the snake's head missing?

Not half as difficult as the snake though...
