I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. I have an ntl 250 cable modem connected to my iMac. I have a pc in another room where the cable connection to the Pace box is located. Is it possible to connect a second modem via a splitter to the cable supply in the second room and connect that to the pc - the wireless signal between the two rooms is not very good. Any advice appreciated.

Yes, but it will cost the same again for a second cable modem. If you can run a coax cable between the two places, why not a cat5 network cable and connect a router to the modem and create a wired network?
It is difficult to get NTL to install a second CM, usually needs to be a shared occupancy location (or for a tennant)

This thread discusses an alternative to wireless for home networking, which may be of more help to you.
