INFJ - A Counsellor Idealist, according to Keirsey. Both of the type descriptions linked from that website make sense to me.

'Architects', apparently, according to the mutt quoting Ayn bleeding Rand. Well, I do like playing SimCity, I must admit. And Lego.

I must say, that's got me nailed pretty well - maths, languages, computing - all my major interests there.

I'm ESTJ

moderately expressed extrovert
slightly expressed sensing personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
slightly expressed judging personality
As an ESTJ, your personality is Extrovert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging.
As an ESTJ, you are Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging.
This makes your primary focus on Extraverted Thinking with Introverted Sensing.

This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (http://www.advisorteam.com/keirsey_guardian.html) (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Supervisors

As a weblogger, you may fufill responsiblities as a leader in group weblogs. If you are really interested in blogging, you'll follow it through and post regularly. Because you appreciate social order, you may be likely to take on a responsibility just to keep a project going.

I would have said I was more extrovert, but I like myself and need my solo time, and if I feel strongly about a particular subject I don't worry about offending folks (although you may not see me argue on CF as I will do so by PM)

So, do most feel that the descriptions of themselves are resonably accurate or way off the mark?

Well I got INTJ, but frankly a whole load of those questions are way too black and white. There are plenty that I would have liked to be able to answer on a sliding scale of eg "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree".

Having said that there's a lot in http://typelogic.com/intj.html that I recognise (and I'm sure some of my interlocutors on here would also agree with) about me! :)

Eg:

"To outsiders, INTJs may appear to project an aura of "definiteness", of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature;"

"INTJs can be unsparing of both themselves and the others on the project. Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect -- and will generally be made aware of this;"

"On the other hand, they do tend to be scrupulous and even-handed about recognizing the individual contributions that have gone into a project"

"Perhaps the most fundamental problem, however, is that INTJs really want people to make sense"

:)

Did you read your type descriptions? The links should have been on the page with your results. The four statements alone realy don't make sense, unless perhaps you're a psychologist. Have a read of what your type is meant to be like and see if you feel any better about it.

ISFP; Intraverted, Sensing, Feeling , Perceiving.
This makes my primary focus on Introverted Feeling with Extraverted Sensing.

Yes, I'm an Artist :)

Well, actually, no I'm not - I'm more of a 'understanding how people tick, and coming up with ways to help them learn technical stuff better' kind of person.

I think many of the questions were too ambiguous and sort of filter out personality types like me

I am ISFJ and it says that makes me a nurturer

Dominant: Introverted Sensing
Auxilliary: Extraverted Feeling
Tertiary: Introverted Thinking
Inferior: Extraverted Intuition

it also says

The ISFJ is warm, generous, and dependable. They have many special gifts to offer, in their sensitivity to others, and their strong ability to keep things running smoothly. They need to remember to not be overly critical of themselves, and to give themselves some of the warmth and love which they freely dispense to others.

Oh makes me sound good doesn't it :D

Inspector Guardians look carefully and thoroughly at the people and institutions around them. Making up perhaps as much as ten percent of the general population, Inspectors are characterized by decisiveness in practical affairs, are the guardians of institutions, and if only one adjective could be selected, †œsuperdependableÃƒÆ Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ šÃ‚Â would best describe them. Whether at home or at work, Inspectors are nothing if not dependable, particularly when it comes to examining the people and products they are responsible forââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚quietly seeing to it that uniform quality is maintained, and that those around them uphold certain standards of attitude and conduct.

These quiet, no-nonsense Guardians have a distaste for and distrust of fanciness in speech, dress, and living space. Their words tend to be simple and down-to-earth, not showy or high-flown; their clothes are often homespun and conservative rather than of the latest fashion; and their home and work environments are usually neat, orderly, and traditional, rather than up-to-date or luxurious. In their choice of personal property (cars, furnishings, jewelry, and so on) price and durability are just as important as comfort or appearance. Classics, antiques, and heirlooms are especially valued, having achieved a certain time-honored statusÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šà ¬Ã¢â‚¬ÂInspectors prefer the old-fashioned to the newfangled every time. Even on vacation, Inspectors tend not to be attracted by exotic foods, beverages, or locales. Their thoroughness and orderliness, combined with their interest in legality and standardization, leads Inspectors to a number of occupations that call for the careful administration of goods and services. Inspectors feel right at home with difficult, detailed forms and columns of figures, and thus they make excellent bank examiners, auditors, accountants, and tax attorneys. Managing investments in securities is likely to interest this type, particularly investments in municipal bonds and blue-chip securities. Inspectors are not likely to take chances either with their own or othersÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šà ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ money, and the thought of a bankrupt nation, state, institution, or family gives them more than a little uneasiness. The idea of dishonoring a contract also bothers an Inspector †”their word is their bondâ₠¬Ã¢â‚¬Âand they naturally communicate a message of trustworthiness and stability, which can make them successful in business. With their eye for detail, Inspectors make good business men and women, librarians, dentists, optometrists, legal secretaries, and law researchers. High school and college teachers of business administration, home economics, physical education, civics, and history tend to be Inspectors, as do quartermaster officers in the military.

In other words, I'm a boring sod . :(

Women tend to be quite tough by the time they reach management level - spent their lives fighting the men folk and trying to break the glass ceiling. I always try to make a point of telling women managers that I'm gay - makes my life easier. I cease to be part of the enemy side :D I can see how greater self-knowledge would help create a better manager, but it's just not going to work. Pretty much everyone hates their boss - few managers are liked. It's all politics - you know that, when the chips are down, your manager will leave you in the firing line. I'll never make it to management level - I can't play the game; I'm too nice. As I've said before, for a gay man, I'm hopeless at **** licking :p: If I did make it to the upper levels, I'd never last. I'm depressed now :( Probably just fulfilling my type :D
