You'll probably need to ring ntl

if your paying 24.99 a month then I would defo give em a call if your just paying out 17.99 then still call them saying that you should be on the 2mb connection instead of the 1.

There was another thread (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=33241) where someone said that they had gone from 2meg to 1meg.

No need to speed test anything. That configuration shows a 1MBit connection only. Time to ring them :)

I don't know anything about the sacms, but what was showing in the config be more accurate than an online test?

Eh? I'm connected via a stb, so I don't have any use for the way the original poster checked the speed of his connection, that's why I was asking if that way was a more accurate way of knowing what speed you are on than an online speed test.

Ok, so problem sorted quiet quickly. Rang CS in Cardiff, they put me though and a nice sounding :-) lady worked her magic their end and now...

Cable Modem Operation Configuration
Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 2048000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 200000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled

im a very happy puppy now.

Thanks for the info and help everyone.

I don't know anything about the sacms, but what was showing in the config be more accurate than an online test?

An online test shows what your actual effective speed is at that time connected to that server, Mal - this may be affected by such things as how effectively your system is set up and how good the connection is between you and the server(s) hosting the test.

The modem configuration shows what your speed is meant to be: i.e. what tier you're on.

From the results of your online test, you might a) reconfigure your system b) contact support to get things checked out/fixed or c) consider that you may be connecting to a distant or hard-to-connect to server and that the results aren't worth worrying about.

If your modem configuration shows any discrepancies, you can only contact support and get them to fix it.
