My daughter is going to Brighton Uni in september and is going to stay with my mum in Eastbourne to help save on accommodation fees. The snag is that my mum has a bog standard BT line and I would like to get a 1meg BB installation but I'm not exacly up to date on who's offering what atm.

Could any of you kind folks recommend a no frills package from a reliable ISP.

I'd also like to get a wireless router. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G at the moment but I'm with NTL and I heard somewhere that these routers are for cable users only. Do Linksys make one for compatible with BT lines?
Cheers

Most routers are either cable compaible or ADSL compatible, few are both. Do you just want a router compatible with BT ADSL? If so I would expect the answer is yes they do make one.

...and to compare different ADSL providers, you can check out www.adslguide.org.uk - the forums on their are also useful for getting opinions from customers of particular ISPs.

So long as you make sure you request a adsl modem that has a ethernet port you will be fine, this may restrict your choice of isp although if you can source that modem yourself then you may get some sort of discount, offer. We are through yahoo bt BB and we have a bt voyager modem that plugs straight into my linksys wireless router.

Thanks for all replies so far. The WAG54G seems a good unit but seems a bit pricey. Is there anything else out there with a built in firewall that will do the job?
Cheers
