View Full Version : Pergola covering
Hi all
Just built a Pergola and was wondering what to cover it in...............fabic might blow away so wondered about Bamboo reed covering like http://chinaplaited.en.alibaba.com/product/50013271/50087160/Reed_Fence_Screen/Reed_Fencing__Reed_Blinds__Bamboo___Jute_Blinds.ht ml
Any ideas or recommendations ???
Thanks
Mike
the bamboo reed would look fantastic :)
I would go with it:tu:
I always thought the whole point of a pergola was that it was open to the elements? Other than that it was to support trailing plants such as "Virginia Creepers" or "Clematis". A bamboo screen may well work (as it still lets the rain through) but it will not be weather proof!
you could put a waterproof fabric on the pergola the put a bamboo on that

How about corrugated plastic - B&Q sells sheets of it.

That was my impression too. Any covering needs to be growing plants otherwise, I suppose, it becomes an arcade.
Also if it is higher than 3 metres and covered in, it will need planning permission!
