I personally think this is inevitable. It pains me having to bundle in a fixed land line which has never been used just to save a little on my broadband and television.

Really VM should give the option. Fixed Land line or mobile package at same pricing.

What do you guys think?

Assumedly VM still make a lot of money from fixed landlines, as its not cheap to run a separate POTS network that is just used for calls. Virgin is certainly the exception rather than the rule, as most cable operators in other countries offer VoIP based telephone services.

Very unlikely without a hike in other charges, just look at what Virgin want without a landline for broadband. Personally I would be quite happy to ditch my landline once 0800 no's are included in call bundles and as long as there was a reduction of sorts in my charges.

On a plus side it would stop nuisance calls from overseas dead in their tracks.

0800 numbers must be free to call on all mobiles from Summer next year, thanks to a new euro directive.

What do you guys think?Fixed line rental is in effect a connection charge for being connected to VM's network. So in one form or another it will always be there.
