We have the free weekend calls package and the last two saturdays we accidentally used 1471+3 but nothing has appeared on our online bill yet, it just says £00.00. I thought it was being charged for now. You know, I think it's just a scam to give something for free, people get used to it being free and then they charge for it. They know lots of people will use it out of habit because it's free, just like 1471 is free at the moment. God help us if they charge for that next.

1471+3 hasn't been free for quite a while. I found out about a year ago when I used ot be on XL phone and I was getting charged for calls because of it.

BT were the first to start charging at just 6p per use and all other phone companies have followed them but they have all put the price up and its nearly 20p. There is still a charge for using Ring back when free on BT and ex-NTL lines of about 10p per use or you can rent it for unlimited use, the same will happen with 1471 eventually. Vodafone is free and O2 have recently withdrawn the service.
