Hi

Looking to upgrade my BB speed from 10 to 60mb but VM want £50.00! Is it not possible to do a self install? I don't have a super hub but could easily plug it in myself if one was posted! I'd go for the upgrade now if it wasn't for the £50.00!

Could try speaking to retentions (thinking of leaving us option) they might be able to do something for you

I got offered self install.

When I spoke to CDC I said I was interested In upgrading, but was not willing to pay the installation fee and straight away he offered to post out to me for self install.

I think the instillation fee is to cover the cost of a superhub. When I upgraded from 30 to 100Mb their was an instillation fee of 50 quid, when I rang customer services to upgrade they said there was no installation fee as I already had a superhub which I plugged in myself anyway. All they did was send a new config file down to the superhub, took 5 minutes.

the engineer is also supposed to check your power levels and stuff so it might be worth posting them here just to make sure everything is okay

Thanks for all the replies!

I received an email from VM this morning stating that the superhub will be delivered on the 16th of this month and that once the instructions have been followed I will be enjoying super fast broadband! Does this mean the installation cost has been deferred? I HAVE contacted VM with the same question!

Just another thought, if I upgrade to 60mb now does this mean I will qualify for the speed doubling or will it remain at 60Mb - Not that worried to be honest 60mb is plenty quick enough for me!!

Thanks again

60Mb is the new doubled speed.

60Mb is the new doubled speed.

Ha I see so what you are saying is I will get the 60 but should only pay the monthly equivalent of 30??

Thanks

Ignore everything about speed doubling. If you call and upgrade now, you can upgrade to 30, 60 or 100, those speeds won't change (except 100 will go to 120 at some point).

It seems strange that they want to charge you £50. I'm on 10mb now, but I ordered 60 the other day. Initially I said I wanted 100, but they wanted to charge £50 to send an engineer round. So instead I got 60mb, and they're going to send me the superhub by courier instead, with only a small postage fee.
