I have noticed this over the last few weeks that I'm not getting full 50 meg down speed am sometimes getting over just 30meg.

I live in Falkirk, Central Scotland

I did a test on thinkbroadband and got this result

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/button/133184113833622615537.png (http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/133184113833622615537.html)

and these from the speedtest.net

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2012/03/23.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

Can anyone see what the problem is please?

you can cancel and delete the download file, its sealed anyway. you just want the download rate.

your upgrades are due around the sametime as me, april onwards.

i think theres a glitch somewhere in your setup, it shouldnt be that low.

call VM during the day to get a uk based agent or you can try now with offshore some know what their doing. ask bb support to do a full diagnostic and check utilization.

need to head to bed shortly mate, will try on Saturday during the day.

to be honest even when I was doing speedtests and getting 50mb DL sometimes when I was DLing from places like MU the speeds were quite slow anyway.

will we have to do anything specific when these new upgrades come out like what we did with the firmware?

hit it with a hammer may be i dont know man. no you shouldnt, theres the upgrades and a new SuperHub firmware upgrade coming. the network upgrade will cure capacity for you to do what you like within new management.

Never been able to get through to a UK agent at anytime myself, except in billing and when I called to cancel.

Base latency goes up with distance from London, and/or bad routing. Aroundabouts 20 is normal if you're in Scotland or Northern Ireland; most places in England and Wales will see 5-15.

i do when my connection starts slacking. when you call and ask for checks they will literally do that. the checks may kick your connection to which you may see speeds max out again and pings lower, you may not and have to just wait until April for network upgrades.. to be honest everyones waiting for network upgrades.

I was going to upgrade the screen but the one I have is fine for what I use it for, which is stream football games - probably 4 or 5 at a time and watching boxing.

Plus I download a lot of boxing fights from torrent sites and other download sites.

Lol

I would first start by doubling the RAM.

my mate builds this sort of stuff he gave me the list of stuff as follows:

Kingston 4GB DDR3 1066MHz Memory Non-ECC CL7 1.5V

Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3-B3 Socket 1155.7.1 Channel Audo ATX Motherboard

Coolermaster Centurion 5 II SPECIAL EDITION with Red Interior - with Coolermaster 650W GX PSU

Inter Core i5 661 3.33GHz socket 1156 4MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor

Gigabyte GTX 560 OC Edition 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 socket 775, 1156, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU

Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM

LiteOn iHAS124-19 24x DVD/RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive - OEM Black with Nero Essentials

Am sure you can translate that mate :D

Tbh I wouldn't let your mate within 1 mile of your money, the CPU he listed don't fit into that motherboard, the memory is the wrong speed, should get a 7200rpm hard drive not a 5400 rpm, you need a i5 2500k in that mobo a different cooler, and as I said a better hard drive, 1600mhz ddr3 and get 8GB not 4 then it will be ok

I don't doubt that you know what you are talking about mate but my mate gets drafted in by stock brokers to build numerous PC for them in their homes.

Other than him I don't know anyone else locally who could build me one.

I wouldn't use stockbrokers as a particular good yardstick for the discerning computing expert...

... Just get an OEM machine. If you don't know how to build it yourself there's zero need for a custom built machine, it costs more and you'll end up with less support and no warranty on the system as a whole.

Lol just the CPU alone wouldn't fit into the motherboard he give you, it's a completely different socket, and that's not even getting into the rest of the miss matched
Parts he gave you

Not being funny, he was either having an of day, or he didn't really know what he was on about

That list is so wrong it's not.funny, but seriously don't buy that CPU, mobo combination as you'll be returning them, as they are incompatible parts

CPU is socket 1156
Mobo is socket 1155= don't fit together
