Hi, my Superhub and connection were working fine up until a couple of days ago. Then, out of the blue, the connection kept breaking and my mbps dropped from 300 to 144. I did the usual and trawled sites to find an answer but eventually got fed up and bought an ethernet cable. My main query is did my mbps drop because of Virgin or because of some local issue and can I fix it another way?

Thanks

Don't believe the hype ;)

Sounds like a wireless issue. Your broadband speed isn't 300 or 144 mbps.

So either your router/super hub got reset and the wireless speed is now 145 mbps (which is best for use with the VM internet) or you've changed a setting.

See here (http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Up-to-50Mb-broadband/Changes-to-the-Super-Hub-s-Wireless-Speed-Settings/td-p/1029743) also.

Post your modem stats and info so we can tell if it's been updated or not.

If it's been updated then it's supposed to make the connection more reliable, not less. If it's not been updated, then it could conceivably be the Superhub detecting interference and automatically downgrading to avoid both causing and receiving said interference. Although as far as I know that functionality on the Superhub is deliberately faulty or disabled.

Its probably this:

I had to go into my superhub and change it back to 300Mbs today.
