Two men in a hired van pulled up outside my daughter's house this morning, used a spade, brush and "tamper"(?) at the edge of her lawn, leaving a loop of cable sticking up out of the grass. I asked what they were doing and was told it was a Virgin service call. My daughter doesn't have Virgin services, but her neighbour may do. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about?

Sounds like a 'pre-pull' in preparation for an installation. Although I'm surprised it's a hired van, and that it's at your daughters address if she's not asked for services - as each address should have it's own access to the cable

on in an hour!

in light of the men saying it was a service call it sounds like the neighbour may have had a repull booked through a service tech and the pre-pull is for that,if theyre semi's a shared tee is not unusual ;)

Many thanks, Ben, that's very helpful. Unfortunately, both neighbour & husband very ill with cancer so don't want to disturb them. Will try to catch visiting relation, and keep an eye on progress. The houses are semis, with unfenced frontage, but cable seemed to be on daughter's side.

Many thanks, Brian. That looks like the answer.
