Here in Cardiff (CF14) we had no internet access between approx 8am - 12pm.

The 150 announcement said "some" had lost internet connection, but was it just local to us or further afield again?

Out down the road from you here in Newport. Not sure the exact time it went down but wouldn't connect when I got up at 9.30am. Finally synced at around 11.30am.

I had an engineer here this morning in Peterborough for a TV fault and he mentioned a national problem. He said if he powered down the modem I may have issues. Fortunately he didn't need to but as I was decorating all day I haven't actually noticed any down time if any.

Down in Norwich today from before 0700 to 1330. Couldn't get through to Virgin. Presumably too many of us ringing to complain.

I think it was National. Here in CF5 it came back on again at about 11am.

if it was a National issue this thread would have a lot more posts in it by now i think rather than 10 which includes 2 of mine.

I am surprised no one picked up on this yesterday to be honest.

Kids phoned me up at work yesterday and said the internet had gone off.... told them to re-boot everything and still nothing. I checked on here and no reports.

About 5 mins later, our Service Desk phoned me up and said that the call manager was showing a fault and they couldn't login (Software and management provided by VM) They then got an email saying that a fibre had been cut in Sheffield and it was affecting the whole of Greater Manchester...not sure if it was more widespread than that.

Anyway, phoned 50Mb number up - he confirmed there was a major fault and it would be resolved by 10PM that night. He kindly knocked £10 off my next bill (Thanks but not necessary!) and it was back on by 11:30PM.

Maybe the problems today are residual from the fault yesterday?

Ironically, my connection to Newsgroups has improved seven-fold since it went off :)

It was not a National issue please get that into your heads, because if it was this thread would have possibly hundreds of posts by now and not 3 just by me out of 14.https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2012/10/4.gif

mine was fine yesterday, so cant see how it was a fault originating in Sheffield ?
