Hi,just got my new Superhub this morning, all set up,activated and working fine, but I can't seem to change the login password from 'changeme'.

I enter the new password into the two boxes and click 'save' but when I try to log in again it's still set to 'changeme' - am I missing a step somewhere?

The usul problem with most devices happen when the new password you're trying to set has any weird characters in it? If yes try removing them and trying again

192.168.100.1

login

advanced settings below the 3 red boxes

set password

enter your new password twice and make sure the Restore Factory Defaults is checked no.

apply

exit

power down

power up

test..

if it doesn't work try a pinhole reset > http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=345041&CURRENT_CMD=SEARCH&CONFIGURATION=1002&PARTITION_ID=1&USERTYPE=1&LANGUAGE=en&COUNTY=us&VM_CUSTOMER_TYPE=Cable

and try again....

I've got it now, after about 15 attempts it's finally accepted the new password.
Didn't do anything any differently this time, maybe it just wanted to see if I really wanted to change it...:)

Sounds like you just been "superhubbed" :D

Get used to it because it is typical superhub behaviour. It will probably go on and on with wireless drop outs, reboots, you name it the superhub can and probably will do it.

However if you want to stay with VM and value your sanity you need to acquire a proper N wireless router and switch the useless superhub to modem mode where it appears to be quite solid..

ditto. Save yourself the aggro and frustration and just do it from the get go.

I only ended up with a Superhub because I was having trouble with my old wired router and Virgin offered me a 'hub' to replace my old blue modem (at no extra cost),but when it arrived it was a Superhub.

I disabled the wireless feature and plugged my ethernet cables into it and it's been fine so far - and saved me form having to buy a new router.:)

Ahh....In that case, as a wired router it will probably give reasonable service. It's when the wireless is enabled that most of the problems arise.

However even without the wireless it has trouble with large LAN transfers, particularly, for example if you are pushing and/or pulling a file over your lan while seeding a torrent the poor old thing is liable to keel over. In fact a torrent with a reasonable amount of peers downloading and simultaneously seeding will do it. Apparently it's underpowered processor can't keep up. The latter is particularly annoying if you have left a box on all night seeding only to find the router and your PC have to be rebooted to get back to square one. :(

Still give it a whirl, a few people extol it's virtues, so if they are to be believed, it proves that a few of the wretched devices are capable of giving some sort of service.
