Hi,

Anyone else experiencing packet loss at the moment?

6 27 ms 27 ms * glfd-tmr-1-ae5-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.159.46]
7 * 25 ms 39 ms tcl5-ic-1-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.185.78]

that doesnt necessary mean packet lost it could be it just timeout ie i think once it reach a certian time on tracert it then timeout but doesnt mean packet lost could jsut be ocngestion, use ping -100 bbc.co.uk and if that reports packet lost then you are getitng it

Thanks Andrew - I was getting 10% - 15% packet loss on a ping to glfd-tmr-1-ae5-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.159.46] - seems to have settled again now though.

yeah, i think the default time out for pings is 2 secs

5 secs actually.

And the buffers on most VM cable modems are in the 1500ms range, and 150ms down at the CMTS. Any more than that you'll never get the packet anyway.
