Is the Superhub now stable enough to be used in modem only mode? Are those that managed to keep their VMNG300, whilst upgrading to 100Mbit without an engineer visiting, considering switching over to one? I am aware that there will be a time when Virgin Media decide to bond more than 4 channels downstream in my area and that the VMNG300 cannot bond more than 4, so I'll have to upgrade at some point. I simply wish to use any Virgin Media equipment as a straight through "modem" to my existing router and separate wireless access points.

Well i upgraded to 100mb from 50mb and kept my VMNG300, but decided to give the superhub a try..

The first day was ok, but after that things went downhill rapidly, wi-fi issues, speed issues unable to get more than 300k on newsgroups whatever server i used ssl or not!!!

It seems the superhub has some sort of onboard traffic management system where it looks at what's coming in, and slows you down accordingly.

(Or maybe its just garbage)

Note putting the superhub in modem mode made no difference at all!!!

After 3 days i went back to my VMNG300, and my trusty DIR-615 with dd-wrt and everything was well with the world again,:) Still need to get a gigabit router though!

No weird slowdowns, no newsgroup issues, no rubbish wi-fi.:)

Using superhub in modem only mode now. No problems whatsoever on 100Mb connection.

This is how you do it.
