Everything was ok earlier but now unable to access a website
http://www.carerwatch.com/

It is working for friends but not me. I have tried many pages from favourites, links via google and they all work fine.

Any suggestions of what I should be checking please.

Working OK from here.

Doesn't help you I know.

There's probably a router gone down somewhere on your route.

Bring up a cmd prompt and do a tracert to see where the trouble is.

Start/run/ type in "cmd" (without the quotes) click OK.
At the prompt: type in "tracert carerwatch.com" (without the quotes) and hit OK.

Hi Mick.

I did as you instructed and 1 to 15 came up as various IPs but from 16 to 30 it keeps coming up as timed out.

Is there anything I can do at my end please?

are your friends on Virgin as well or other isps?

I have done a traceroute and it completes on hop 13 at simon.genwebserver in Denver (Colorado I believe).

I am thinking it is a DNS issue and maybe you should try using the google dns servers for name resolution so it can point you to the correct ip.

All advice given was greatly appreciated.

I ended up ringing VM earlier and lovely girl there had it sorted in seconds. No idea why it had happened but she took me through Internet connections...had to type in webcache.virginmedia.com and change port no.

All operating fine now.

Thanks everyone
