50Mb Download Speeds

Until a couple of days ago I was getting download speeds of around 40-50Mb using this forums speed test. Now I am currently getting just over half of these speeds. Other speed tests seem to confirm this diagnosis. Does anyone else seem to be suffering from this problem? I did lose my connection completely for a few hours last week but it came back without an engineer visit. I believe it was an area fault.

yes on 50mb here in cambridge CB24 postcode my upload is ok but download around the 18-20mb

same here, i normally have no probs pulling 6mb/sec from newsgroups and yesterday i was only getting just over 3.

Was happening to me on monday, I was only getting 1.5 Mb/s download and 4.7 mb/s upload + 400 ms ping on speediest.net, I turned the router off for 5 minutes turned it back on and it's been fine since.

really? I am in cambridge also and i receive full 30mbit.. you must be in an area of cambridge where a lot of ppl have a vm connection.

just got home from work and its back to normal :):)

Rang Virgin who could see no problems from their end. Played around with the modem and router which caused a windows network error message about tcp settings which said one of settings was not optimal. After fixing now getting my original speeds.
