Ok, It is now universally accepted Virginmedia's cable network is incapable giving a good experience for online gamers. One major problem is gamers who play Blackops on xboxlive.

VM support staff are apparently looking into the problems and have been looking into the problem since March with no progress. At first they blamed Microsoft , they then had to withdraw that and blamed Treyarch the game developers, an finally admitted there is a problem with how the network handles the game traffic.

After VM support staff posted on the official VM forums stating they had "tweaked" and made "changes" to the network claming al would be fixed it soon became apparent nothing had changed.

So now the latest, this is a C&P Of a post on the offical forum from a member of staff.

Hi All,

Could you please provide us with pathpings and traceroutes to the gameserver as it'll help us to progress with our investigation.

Thanks

Now they don't even seem to under stand Blackops on xboxlive is a PEER2PEER connected game lol. There is no game server running the game, 1 xbox is simply picked as host and runs the game sending out info to all other xboxes. There is no hope this will ever be fixed lol.

There's no hope when people just post on other forums moaning about their attempts to fix it.

Of course, you don't really want it fixed. You just want an excuse to complain about virgin..

Yeah you're absolutely right, I don't want VM to fix the issue I want to keep on paying for a cable connection and a ADSL+2 connection.

I don't want VM to do what every other provider seems to able to do and maintain a constant and solid connection to xboxlive. I'm glad my kids were unhappy that they couldn't use there xboxes online at the same time because VM equipment can't give both access to open ports at the same time.

It's not just me that's not happy its a lot of other customers.

CLICK ME (http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Gaming/bd-p/Gaming)

I do not understand why VIRGINMEDIA don't just let me disconnect, I won't have there services then and won't have any interest in whats going on with them.

Virgin Media, like most ISPs don't gurantee a fault free service. That doesn't mean you have to accept a service that has a fault that isn't being repaired if that fault is critical to your normal use of the service contracted. One must of course be able to show that the problem you have is normal and thus reasonably expected use.

The standard response may be that your cannot leave. If you serve them proper notice, for a period equivalent to any notice they could serve on you under their terms and conditions of supply, requiring recitifcation of that issue within the notice period, and stating that if they fail to do so you will consider that a breach of contract on their part, and that you will then immediately cancel services, VM would have a very difficult case to make further claim against you. You'd probably get a lot of stroppy letters though, and never ever be able to go back to them in the future if you did "walk away".

Why does the issue have to be with VM? Seen as its a P2P service that operates Black Ops matchups then couldnt the issue be with the host and port forwarding on their router... or heaven forbid... their ISP?

Black Op's on XBL here and works perfect, even at peak time.

How about you troubleshoot the connection further or give us more information about the fault and what else it affects? If you provide that info to James on the community forum he will help you.

Do you really think I would make a post like this one as my first reaction to an issue?

Do you really think I haven't contacted VM and had a tech out, a "principle" tech out?

Do you really think I haven't checked my own home network? Swapped the Superhub for a VMNG and router?

Do you really think I didn't check other peoples connections on blackops?

I have even had a ADSL line installed, I'm not a customer that decided because things didn't work for 1 day that I will rant to the world.

You're typical of VM, the customer is always wrong or the customer wants a discount. I not wrong and I don't need a discount I just want to be..

A-Disconnected for free.
B-A working useable connection 24/7.

I've never had a gaming issue with Black ops. Either on vmng or the superhub.

Also you don't seem to know which no to use in your title. Typical of your pointless and childish VM bashing threads.

I frequently post from an iPad and the auto correct sometimes makes silly corrections. However I never claimed to make no mistakes but where possible I do correct them.

You however seem to just make posts and threads to bash VM, either directly or indirectly.

I'm trying to work out the purpose of this thread? It doesn't seem that the OP is actually requesting any help or is being given any help.Lots of advice yes,but no actual help.

Can I suggest to our members that unless you really have any advice and solutions for the OP that you leave the thread.

Frequent assertions that your Blackops connection is fine is not helpful either-it just annoying to someone who isn't getting the service they want or expect.
