I will in a few months switch to the SuperHub when the new R29 firmware is out.

However I Wanted to know:

With the VMNG300 only having 1 Ethernet Port, everytime a new device is connected to it, it must be restarted.

Now if the SH is in Modem Only Mode is this also going to apply?

The superhub obviously has more ethernet ports built into it so will it be able to feed 2+ connections without a retart in modem only mode?

Modem mode by design enables one port only on the SuperHub - because otherwise it has to do routing to support two or more ports.

I would expect the behaviour of the SuperHub in Modem mode to exactly match a modem - so a reboot is needed when swapping devices

Only Port One on the Superhub will be live once you have switched to Modem Mode, otherwise you would not be able to use your own equipment to provide your ip address or use your own router without any issue or conflict.

Again, thank you for the reply.

Which port is classed as "port 1" on the Superhub?

I think it is the one nearest the power lead and coax.

Wonder if the rest of the ports will remain useable as a standalone switch...

Nope. The other 3 ports are disabled. anything you plug into them simply doesn't work.

Modem mode means just that.

I now know as they sent me the R29 firmware but had not looked at my modem until I saw the PM, seems a little faster on R29 so not to bad.

Well that's boring, and probably what took them the extra 3 months to figure out...
