Hi, my internet keeps going down when I'm going through a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz router. When I bypass the router and go straight from my Virgin modem everything seems fine. I'm running a pc, laptop and two mobile phones in the house, sometimes at the one time but not always. I phoned Virgin and they offered me a combined modem/router for an extra £4.50 a month if I took out extra speed (30mb from 20mb), not a lot I know....question is....would this be better than just buying a new stand alone router? Cheers.

It's worth checking the Linksys website to ensure your router is running the latest firmware.

Enough people have problems with the new combined modem/router's wireless that I certainly wouldn't suggest getting one with the hope of having it fixing your wireless.

If you want the higher speed, then go for it. Otherwise you're better off spending £10 one-off to get a decent standalone router and avoid the sometimes flaky combined unit VM are pushing right now.
