When I had 100Mb my download maxed out at around 12Mb/s but average was 11.6Mb/s

My upload averaged 9.08mb/s

Did you already have super hub? i have to wait until Monday so i can get [Mod Edit] 100mb team said if i keep my VMG300 I'll only get 75-80mb/s max due to it only having 100mb output/overheads etc...

Yh got superhub mate had it about 4 months now, in the last 30 mins I have gone back to 100mb lol, I updated my network adaptor with a new driver and now I'm hitting 95mb on speedtest and 9.7mb upload, will test newsgroups later, fingers crossed I've sorted problem :-)

Coolio, I've tried everything to try and keep my 50mb modem but they (VM) are having none of it and are making me get the [Mod Edit] before enabling the 100mb... gits

VMNG300 has 1000mbps output, the same as the Superhub. With overheads even 100mb output will give you 94mbps throughput.

using astraweb on 50mb i get full speed, using it on 100mb its all over the place but got 11mb/s earlier, used my mates giganews account and got 11.8mb/s and never went below 11.5mb/s

i also notice astraweb dont download old articles at full speed but giganews does

Yh mate, rang virgin and told them tech came out and still got problem, they advised me to downgrade to 50mb so I did, but I then decided to see if there was any driver updates for my motherboard and there was, installed it and rang virgin again and spoke to tech and told them what I had done and cud they put me back on 100mb to see if it's working now

Actually it wasnt mate, just had tech here again, upstream is at 58db and I've had 27 timeouts in 5 mins, they ain't got a clue what the problem is, waiting for area manager to visit me, think new cables need laying :-(

I recently switched over to supernews which for all intense and purpose is giganews because astraweb was getting flaky even on 50.

Make sure you have SSL enabled and one connection per 0.5mb of speed your connection has, e.g. 100 connections for 50 meg.

During peek times (i.e. the times when most people are awake) Virgins rather aggressive traffic shaping kicks in around here. I find I need one encrypted connection per 0.5Mb to max out.
