I'm having trouble connecting to the net. The ready light keeps flashing and can't go on the net. It's working now but when I reset the modem it tends to start flashing again. So hopefully someone can reply soon.

I got my levels, so can anyone see a fault from them please.

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Frequency : 35800000 Hz
Upstream transmit Power Level : 45.7 dBmV

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Frequency : 315000000 Hz
Downstream Receive Power Level : -5.4 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 36.6 dB

Power could be dropping out .. when it flashes have a look at the down and up stream status .. the one that isn't locked is the issue and requires a tech ..

If both lock, then its an account issue, which considering the issue isnt there all the time is very, very unlikely.

Ok thanks, I'll check it next time it does it.

You didn't say what type of modem. If it's a NTL 256 SACM and the only problem now is the ready light flashing, then just ignore it. They do that - mine worked fine for months like that. Strangely, it's on solid now.

Ready shouldn't flash when its locked on.

Nah this is different to that issue. Mine had that ready light glitch but this keeps flashing and the net doesn't work. I'll just try checking that locked suggestion when I reset it later tonight.

Ready shouldn't flash when its locked on.
There were plently of posts about it, from VM staff, mostly blaming it on a firmware problem. Where have I heard that before, and/or since?

Loads of ambits flash for no reason it's a firmware bug

Still bad advice to ignore a light that on most modems means there is a network problem.

Still bad advice to ignore a light that on most modems means there is a network problem. That's not what your fellow VM staff posters were saying when I was looking in to it. That was a while ago, so maybe they've fixed the firmware and it's now a genuine fault indication.

The lights on a modem are there for diagnostic purposes, yes there are firmware issues, but to make the assumption that something is being caused by an issue with the modems rather than the network is bad advice.

Coincidentally, my ntl 256 lost power today. It's going again, otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this; Speedtest.net says I'm getting the full 20Mb d/l that I pay for. And the Ready light is flashing.

Considering the first thing he says in his post is

"I'm having trouble connecting to the net. "

Your reply was pointless ..
