I discivered today while cleaning out the chickens, Red Mites.

Millions of the little buggers.

I've tried using this spray called "Smite", but ive used a whole bottle.

At first I sprayed the coop, then waited 15 minutes and blasted the coop with a hosepipe on jet spray. Then I cleaned the coop top to bottom with soapy water, and jet sprayed it again.

While the coop was drying, I put some of this powder from the pet shop on the birds, and then went back to the coop to find red mites all over the place.

Can anyone recommend anything?

I thought about a flamethrower but the coop is made of wood.

Try something called Oxi mite red mite spray as that is supposed to be quite good or here is a link to some items on Amazon.

So most of the advice is spray or stick things in your cracks ;)

Do they have 6 legs or 8?

Sounds like a daft question but I think the 8 legged ones are predators of the 6 legged variety.

dunno there small, didnt really count them

i coated the inside with vegetable oil, apparently it kills them off. have to chack tomorrow but seems to have worked.

the little *******s are still there...........wtf do i do?

its cost me £20 today in stuff to rid them, short of getting a new chicken coop i dunno what to do.

"Hairpull"

I'm gonna have to do this again tomorrow with something different.
