Anyone else in the Portsmouth area had their cable modem connection going up and down more often than a rabbit on a pogo stick.....?

I couldn't see anything on the main website about the status locally being down but wanted to check if anyone is enjoying this "service" before I phone them up to have a appointment booked for an engineer... only to have it cancelled an hour later when they realise there is a problem in the area...

(Posted in the nanosecond of upness of the network!) :D

I've no problems over here in Lee-on-Solent,PO13.

Have you tried phoning the status phone line? 08005610061.
IF there are any issues in your area you should get a recording saying so.

Im in PO4, on pmth9 UBR, last week my 20Mb connection kept dropping forcing me to reboot my modem, then yesterday i noticed that the upload speed has been increased to 2Mb, they might just be upgrading your UBR now.

I have no problems. In the PO5 erea. I had my upgrade from 1 to 3 MB 2 days ago so it could be something to do with the upgrade. :)

Just to update- it seems it was a problem in Cosham area which my modem seems to be mapped to according to virgin. The engineers have been working on it since 9am and it looks (fingers crossed) to be fixed now. :D

Hi,
I'm still getting problem in Portchester, PO16

I have the XL package (30Mb) but the speed is from non existant up to 60Mb but mostly down to 15mb.

I phoned CS who told me there was maintenance work in this area and will be so right up to 11th May. They have given me three weeks compensation because of it.

Sutre hope to ge a stable 60Mb soon.

No trouble in SO31 (I'm on Portsmouth VM phone switch PT2).

I asked about this on the VM forums and they admitted that Portsmouth is overleaded, just not enough for them to actually do anything about it.
