View Full Version : College in Longbridge
the Bournville college is moving to Longbridge. and it's really ugly!
it's got gold panels on some of it. it's got panels that are different colours on the rest. it looks like something that was built in the 60's and is going to be demolished soon because it looks so out of date.
anyone seen the eyesore?
No.
Oh.
postcode?
Don't know.
I found this

Just checked that link. Whats wrong with it exactly?? I think it looks very nice.
It won't be on Google street. it's too recent.

You have to see it in the flesh to appreciate how bad it is.
the gold panels are the worst.
It's no different to a lot of other modern buildings.
I think Evil Knieval would have liked it to practice his jumps on
Back to this. loads of complaints about it being an eyesore.
which it really is!
the white side of it is ok, that bit looks normal. but the blue side really does look like it's down for demolition soon because of how ugly it looks. the gold panels really are a complete mess. they're not even flat.

I really think this has got to be changed. it's damn ugly!
the architect defends his design.

I like it an it's similar to a lot of modern buildings.
A new hospital near me

and not to mention the Scottish Parliment building.

I prefer it to the brutalist architecture of the 50s and 60s.

The hospital looks ok. this college looks ok. but only from the one side which is white.
the whole side on the other is blue panels. I actually thought when they were building it that it was that protective plastic stuff and would be took off soon.
then you have the monstrosity gold thing at the main entrance. right on the edge of the road. you have to see it in the flesh to take it in. it looks like it was made by kids.
in a lot of the 'publicity pics' they don't like to show either the blue side or the gold 'sardine tin' and if they do show the 'sardine tin' they make it look like a nice shade of yellow.

l think its looks quite nice compared to a lot of our buildings in the Plymouth town centre which were built in the 50's
I really don't see your problem at all. The blue parts looks fine, contrasting shades of blue in the one area are fine.
The gold panels are not flat as they aren't supposed to be its modern and interesting.
You think the hospital looks ok? Looks more like a new college building, especially with those random copper panels on the wall.

Ok. thanks for your opinion.

There's nothing wrong with it. I really don't see what the problem is. the hospital looks ok.
I just think its a little odd you are complaining about the blue walls of the College but you said you think the hospital looks ok even with its random coloured bits and big blue/green copper panels.
Here is an other side of the building with even more copper.
