I'm looking to change the coaxial(?) cable that comes out from the virgin unit on the wall into the modem to a shorter one. When i upgraded the guy changed the cable and it's just too long, it's about 5m in length and it's all coiled up under my desk. As my pc it right next to the wall unit i would like a smaller cable.

Are the connectors on the cable all standard, can i just simply go into a shop and buy a new shorter one or would this cause a problem with signal noise ?

Thanks.

A standard F connector will do. Just cut the cable to length and fit. They are cheap enough from here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-x-F-Plug-Connectors-Coax-Cable-Sky-Sat-TV-Dbox-/330369836350?pt=UK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL&hash=item4ceb93a53e).
