New Router Won't Connect To Internet

Hi there

Just bought the standard netgear virgin media router off eBay for £5 would of cost me more ringing virgin for a replacement just received it and plugged it all in connected the router to the pc with no problems via wireless

I open up my browser and appears I cannot get an Internet connection but if I plug my old router back in I get a connection no probs at all

Plug the new one back in and no connection

Do I need to update software or anything the new router had been used but only for a few days

I'm using windows vista

Switch the modem off, connect the router, switch the modem on, switch the router on.

Then it won't work as the device will have been registered to another account and they won't reg it to your account.

You bought a £5 paperweight as it will never work on another Virginmedia connection due to it not being registered on someone elses account and we will not register it for you either.
