View Full Version : VM Router turning the wireless signal off

i have a Netgear router and modem i have my 2 pcs connected directly but now my daughter left home i don't use the wireless , is there any way of disabling the wireless signal so i can use the router in a wired connection only ?

goto you routers home page maybe 192.168.0.2 or something similar and untick the wireless box. Or discontect the router completely and connect direct to the modem if you only have one device.

Edit! you clearly state you have 2 PC's.

yes i have 2 pcs so i'm using the wireless 4 ports to connect , the modem VMNG300 only has 1 port to connect

you say its netgear, do you know how to get to the config pages, put in the address bar of your browser probably 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, it will be the default gateway from the computer, from there, there will be a setting to disable wireless

Start->Run: "cmd" -> "ipconfig /all"

Look for 'Default Gateway'. Type this address (x.x.x.x) in your web browser. Answer the prompt with your ROUTER username/password (try blank for username and 'admin' for password on Netgear IIRC). Use the settings which appear to find wifi configuration and disable the radio there.

For reference it will most likely be 192.168.x.1 and again IIRC it's 192.168.0.1 for most Netgear products.

i need the username and password i have tried admin for username and password but nothing

is there a sticker on the back or on the bottom which has the username and password?
