Does anyone know what causes the SuperHubs downstream channel to randomly change to "downstream channel: Locked" ?

I'm living overseas at the moment, but my Dad needs the Virgin connection to speak to me on skype. I usually remote into his machine to help with any issues.

It took me over 10 attempts to finally get on the machine and I manged to remote into the router and found the locked downstream channel.

We had 20mb since it came out and we were lucky if we had 2 outages that whole time. Since we upgraded (or downgraded in my opinion now) to 30mb, the routers downstream channel randomly locks itself up.

I don't want my Dad calling Virgin Media tech as he's not confident with computers and will likely get frustrated if he gets through to the Indian call centre.

To make things easier, is it possible just to plug the old ambit 256 back in, or would the docsis 3.0 not allow this now?

I managed to get the readings for the connection...

Downstream locked is a good thing, it means its locked onto a frequency. The ambit can only go to 20meg as its not a Docsis 3 modem

Ok thanks, I'd be happy with 20mb, then at least my parents would have a stable connection. The superhubs got to go :-(
