make sure you do a speed test and are getting a decent speed

If you want to check your power levels and SNR before he leaves, you should see the sticky thread in this forum

Check out your wifi reception over a few different areas of your home.

Good luck!:)

God, sounds like my worst nightmare! What do you want the tech to do about poor wifi?

At the momemt all seems ok, wired connection getting 48 to 49 down & 4.1 to 4.7 up ping 18ms, I have posted my graph on the think broadband post.

Wireless is as suspected a different story, 20-25 down 3-4 up.

Is this caused by the G connection on the laptop

You won't get any more than 25Mb out of wireless g.

The tech that installed my 50Mb stayed until he confirmed wired and wireless speeds were in line with expected for the equipment (50Mb for wired, 20+ for G wireless). Confirmed things were stable and access to net and mail.

Now if I could get a cheap N wireless bridge/repeater to get rid of the 30m Cat 5 with no loss of speed/stability ... and keep the old G bridge connected.

Got home last night and guess what was waiting for me when I arrived a brand new shiny Superslug with no N dongle in sight. :erm:

Rang customer service who apologised for the oversight and is sending out the N dongle.

As to the extra superslug, the operator sais keep it you wont be chargged for it

Any sugesstions for its use (sensible ones) would be much appreciated

Pop it open and see what kit is inside it! Would be interesting to know if the thing is as cheap as it feels or if the hardware is any good.
