HI,
checking my logs on my new superhub as I am unable to get Think Broadband ping test to work and have general slowness loading pages etc.

A few "critical" entries, wonder if anyone can shed any light on them?

-----------------------------------------------

SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=XXXXXXXXXXXX;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;

DHCP FAILED - Requested Info not supported.;CM-MAC=XXXXXXXXXXXXXX;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:92:b8;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;

No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=XXXXXXXXXXX;CMTS-MAC=00:0d:66:24:88:01;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;

and finally..

Fri Apr 01 18:31:03 2011 Critical (3) Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow
(Is this from me rebooting the Superhub?)
--------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for any help...
upgraded to 30MB just wanting to be sure I get the best from it.

Please do not post CM-MAC addresses (removed in above post)

can your post your power levels, using the 'connection' link on the left hand side of the advanced settings on the superhub config pages

Sure, thanks for this.

My connection is actually quite slow on a lot of Sites, and Thinkbroadband Ping/Quality test shows high latency etc.

Downstream power levels are on the high side. Ideally should be no more than 7dBmv.

You'll need a tech out to adjust them.

Thank you, I'll put a post in the official VMsupport forum.

I read the POwer Levels FAQ and noticed that...
The SNR is a bit out of whack as well, will that be fixed with teh engineer visit too?

Cheers.

What do you think's wrong with your SNR?

Gazjam
06-04-2011, 16:36
the SNR looks fine actually.

craigj2k12

the only thing wrong is the downstream power levels

Cheers Craig.

Would that be the culprit for high 31ms ping and jitter I'm getting on broadband testing tools?
And in turn for the slow surfspeed Im getting.

For instance I cant stream 1080p video properly, which I probably should on a 30mb connection Id think?

craigj2k12

I shouldnt think so, but possibly, as they are quite high.

do a test on www.speedtest.net

and one on www.pingtest.net

post the results here and ill take a look, meanwhile, what website are you using to stream the 1080p videos?

A pathping to bbc.co.uk would show up and bottlenecks on the VM network as well.

i dont have any packet loss problems on my connection at all, but pinging to the virgin gateways give me packet loss everywhere, hence its probably security

Pinging the gateways may well do so hence the pathping through them.
