Ok, This may have been discussed before but I cannot find anything that seems to ask the question directly and I have used the search function. :D

I am moving to a virgin media cable area next month, and have already pre-ordered the 50 MB Package, Engineers should be coming april 20th 2 days after the moving date; from what i have read so far the super hub is not quite as "super" as the name suggests, so If necessary is it possible to replace the super hub with a 3rd party modem/router and it all work fine?

I have seen a variety of routers on the overclockers.co.uk website claiming to be cable routers, so I presume them to be virgin media compatible as It is a stoke-on-trent/england based company.

This is the list of modems:

No you can only use the Virginmedia supplied Superhub as it must be registered to your account.

Excuse the ignorance but I've been able to just plug in my old Linksys WRT150N via ethernet to the superhub and switch the superhub wireless off. Back to rock-solid wireless, apparently. Am I missing something? What is this "bridge" mode and why would I need it? Cheers.

EDIT: I've just read the link below. Do I need to fiddle about with MAC addresses?
