I have just upgraded from a 10 Meg broadband to 30 Meg.. Thought excellent!! Nice fast Internet and game play for ps3

HOW WRONG WAS I!!

I did have modem and router separate and played on ps3 no problem..

I now have supper hub and the wireless on it it just not good at all.fifa lags really bad!!

What can I do??? Can I return the supper hub?? What has people done??

Also on the supper hub there's 3 lights one is blue at the top and the other two lights green? Is this normal??? The people in India are useless!! Sure they are there to stress me out!

Can I use old modem and router and still get 30meg? I doubt the old equitment will support 30mg i don't know what to do!

Any help would be v grateful

cheers Andy

Type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar then log into your superhub. Then click advanced settings, then on the left click services and untick IP FLOOD DETECTION and FIREWALL FEATURES I assume your pc has a firewall.

Then go to wireless settings and change your wireless channel, go for channel 11 or 12.

These things MAY help/

I too have just upgraded to the 30mb and using the Superhub. Best thing to do is post on the Official Virgin Media forums. There are active Tech guys reading the posts and posting random help. Mine has settled quite a bit since the installation, but I still get random disconnects from the Hub and Wireless performance is no where near as good as my old set-up.

fifa is really bad playing on the hub.. marcus firewall ok to untick?

Hugh

Three lights as you have described them are normal.

Also, follow marcus's instructions and change 802.11 mode to 145Mb/s (if you have g wireless).

It's ok to untick firewall if you have one on your pc/laptop.

Not true, though I'm guessing you got this from VM's support forums, on which Mark Wilkin's post about 2.4 vs 5Ghz is almost entirely incorrect.

5Ghz is 'a' and 'n' wireless.
2.4Ghz is 'b' 'g' and 'n' wireless.

'n' can run on either frequency, and technically any other frequency, as can 'a' and 'g'

Yes you can untick firewall, even if you had issuses you could just turn it back on. Just fo information here are 2 results from pingtest.net

WITH FIREWALL AND IP FLOOD DETECTION OFF

AND WITH THEM TURNED ON

Just try what I said earlier in the post it should help. Becareful with any thing else you could end up lossing your connection between your devices and the hub then you won't be able to get back on the net to ask for help.

If what I suggested doesnt help then maybe try the official VM support forums as it has a gaming section.

Takes ages to sign in, sometimes I get the message below saying it is taking too long... never had these issues with old set up... very frustrating!

Well if things don't improve, I will be ringing them up and asking to be downgrading to 20mb and having the Hub replaced.

Andycable - just out of interest, I'm getting the 30mb upgrade tomorrow(from 10mb) along with the superhub (hopefully, don't let me down home delivery network!) - could you tell me what the set up / installation was like? Did the activation go easy and quick?

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your new equipment.

andycable

In my experience it is more likely to be the ps3 than any particular router. I had trouble with the ps3 with 2 previous routers and if I put my laptop in the same place as the ps3 the laptop would have perfect signal but the ps3 would still have trouble.

However since I got the super hub the ps3 is connecting fine.

I think the general consensus points to poorly-trained circus animals. ;)

Couple of options for the PS3 is to either use a wired connection or you could try adding your PS3 to DMZ.

andycable
20-02-2011, 21:04
dmz?? i have no idea how to do that mate.. what can i do?? i have taken a 12 mth contract and its worse on a ps3 game play, good speeds on net tho.rather have the good gameplay tbh
