View Full Version : Can't stop the ads
couple of days ago just took a quick look at laterooms.co.uk
now nearly every page I go to has an ad for late rooms.co.uk :-(
I've tired deleting cookies - still the same
is this the VM Phorm issue
is there any way I can stop these laterooms.co.uk ads appearing all the time ?
If you mean at the top of the page just download and install adblocker plus it removes all advertising.

I have had this with other sites. You go shopping, then you are inundated with adverts for that site.
I know where the site is, and I have just purchased from it, so why would they want to advertise it to me again. Surely advertising similar products at a different site would be better, rather that the company paying to advertise to me when I don't need the advert.

Or go directly to this Adobe tool (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html) and clear your flash cookies

I use chrome and this prompted me to see if someone had finally built a chrome extension to block ads and I found this https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom which I've just added and the ad in the top corner of this site has now disappeared :)

I use Firefox with a combination of the following relevant addons.
Adblock Plus
Beef TACO
Flashblock
Ghostery
With a little simple setup that'll block most of the annoying BS that tracks you, slows down browsing and displays banners. I can't imagine using the web without these now.

most likely its a network of companies using one advertising company, after you shop at one of the companies data is used to display ads of that type as its more likely to interest you. Since deleting cookies has been ineffective I would say its possible they stored your ip and serve based on that.
Blocking 3rd party cookies will get rid of the vast bulk of advert related cookies and the only site's I have seen not work properly by doing that is google related sites like youtube. Google have a tendancy to use domains on cookies that dont match the domain name of the site.
