View Full Version : Connection dropped for 5 hours .." Access Denied " in modem configuration.

Hello all..

I have a bit of an issue and wondering if anyone on here has had similar issues recently.

Issue:- Modem shows access denied in operation config despite showing sync. This lasted for 5 hours, which kind of looks like a mis triggered Traffic management issue.

For the last few nights the connection has dropped usually between 7 and 8 pm only for it to come back on in the early hours of the morning.

Tonight it dropped out just before 8pm - and came back at 00:51. The modem kept rebooting itself trying to get a DHCP response however the modem was showing " Access denied "

Any Ideas ? India was no help when I called them tonight.

Quick update - VM tech support said the issue was caused by a local upload problem that was meant to have been fixed on the 17th September.. which is weird as I had no problems up until the 9th October.

Modem is connected at the moment but the ready light is flashing continuously. I wonder if this has anything to do with the planned upload speed increases.

Flashing ready light seems to be connected with being on the overlay network. I've heard it's a bug in the modem firmware???

India is adamant it is a faulty modem and sent me a new one including power supply and Ethernet cable. Initially the new modem still had a flashing ready light, however at some time it went solid and has stayed solid for the last 5 or 6 days.

I'm not sure this proves anything though. In the main, if you've got a decent connection I wouldn't worry about a flashing ready light. At the most it can be a PITA if you are trying to diagnose an outage and you have a router connected.

The ready light is still flashing - its been around 5 days now but the connection is decent - I've had a few drop outs but overall its been ok.

However it is usually bad at the weekend so I'll wait to see if I lose the connection again.

Try checking your modem when your conn drops. Mine always reports that the upstream is not locked.
