View Full Version : VMDG280 router - subnet issues

Good evening. I have recently joined VM after moving house. Previously I had all of my machines on the subnet 192.168.1.x. However, the VMDG280 won't let me use that range - apparently it's hard-wired to the "guest network", whatever that is. So I have changed the router IP to 192.168.4.1, and want to carry on with my 192.168.1.x subnet with the .4.1 default gateway. Unfortunately, it seems that the VMDG280 is also hard-wired to a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, so none of my 1.x machines are able to access the WAN. Everything works if I temporarily set those machines to be on the 4.x range.

Is there a way around this? Am I able to change the VMDG280 for something a little more enterprise and a little less noddy?

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure but should it not be 192.168.0.x ?

It was 0.1, but I changed it to 4.1.

I think I am going to call VM and push them to send me a proper cable modem. From some extended Google searching I can see that I'm likely to have problems with this thing, since I do VPN for work/studying and other "non-noddy" stuff. Thanks.
